Waterfalls Grades

We had time to visit another waterfall before visiting the railroad museum in Saluda, NC at the “top of the grade.”

Connestee Falls.

Saluda Historic Depot and Museum.

Top of the Grade.

To help trains up the steep grade they needed a helper engine, this articulated steam engine was one of them.

Runaway trains wrecked. To prevent this it was suggested to build a runaway train track. Highways followed suit with runaway truck ramps.
