From Theodore Roosevelt’s face on Mount Rushmore to Theodore Roosevelt National Park which hosts a cabin he stayed in while in North Dakota. There are two units of TRNP, North and South. These photos are from the South Unit. We also visited the more remote North Unit which, oddly enough, was in the Central Time Zone.
- From the Painted Canyon visitor center and overlook, right off the interstate.
- First animal encounter. We wound up seeing lots of prarie dog towns.
- Why did the bison cross the road?
- Why does this bison look like a cow? Because most bison have interbred with cattle.
- Feral horses.
- Theodore Roosevelt stayed in the Maltese Cross cabin during much of his time in North Dakota.
- We saw tens of thousands of round hay bales on this part of the trip.
Arriving in North Dakota meant that I have now visited all fifty US States. Now I must visit all US Territories, Canadian Provinces, or all 417 National Parks. Or maybe not. Fifty states was never really a goal anyway. All major league baseball parks… well, that is a goal.
