Silver City, NM is not a city; it’s a town. Still operating under its original town charter which apparently regulates prostitution. No further inquiries on the topic were made!
Silver City was the childhood home of Billy the Kid, leading to Marty Robbins singing about him: “,,,in old Silver City he went to the bad…” I always thought his name was William Bonney, but in the Silver City Museum he had a few other names. Turns out he was born William McCarty, but was Kid Antrim after his stepfather. He just decided to call himself William Bonney.
Anyway, a really nice little museum that we stumbled on our way to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument.
