The highlight of Houston’s Downtown Aquarium is the Landry’s Restaurant. Not that we didn’t enjoy the tigers, the fish, and the train ride through the shark tank.
- Picture opportunity.
- Picture opportunity.
- The train ride past Buffalo Bayou. The electric engine is called the “Electric Eel.”
- Here we are on the train in the shark tunnel. We are the only ones on the train.
- In the shark tank was the largetooth sawfish. During Hurricane Harvey, the bayou flooded over the tank, wiping out power and filtration. The sawfish survived. One of the sharks went missing so if you see a fin in the bayou beware.
- You can pet the rays. We didn’t.
- The only armadillo that can completely curl into its armor.
- In the restaurant tank, was this fish with “headlights.”
- AI could not identify this species but referred me to the aquarium website. It’s a tarpon.
- Alligator and snapping turtle..
I love his eyes reflecting the iPhone LED.
