Our journey was mainly about visiting family and friends with some sightseeing thrown in, but this visit combined the two. We visited this park with old friends from Phoenix who moved to South Carolina. Cowpens National Battlefield preserves the battlefield and some artifacts from this 1781 American Revolution battle.
- This monument was dedicated in 1932 in recognition of all the men who fought at the Battle of Cowpens.
- There is nothing physically remaining here from the battle except the terrain it was fought on. A trail takes you through that geography with signs informing of the happenings there.
- An example of the signage.
- The big picture.
Unrelated “Behind the website story:”
The subscribe function intended to alert subscribers to new posts died quietly without my knowledge many months ago. I used AI to fix it. A number of times I asked Claude and ChatGPT to find a replacement for the dead WordPress plugin that had previously handled subscriptions. After many hours of back and forth trying things that ultimately didn’t work, I gave up. They never found a plugin that worked.
Copilot is like the ugly step sister of AI. Nevertheless, this past week I tried it. It immediately wrote a plugin to do exactly what I wanted. And recommended an additional plugin that ensures that emails are not throttled by the website’s host.
So, hopefully, if you’re a subscriber you’re getting emailed notifications of new posts. If you’re not a subscriber, you can subscribe in the box in the sidebar.
