A taxidermist dream of hundreds of animals grace the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum in San Antonio… plus some eclectic history and the included Texas Ranger Museum. Thought this would be a 15-minute museum visit, but turned into 2 hours with quick lunch in the saloon. We discovered this in a tourist magazine in the hotel*.

- Siena, the mermaid. Slideshow displays of “mermaids” were victims of sironomelia, fused legs.
- 3-D art using rattlesnake rattles. One of several in the museum.
- Cairo, horse of silent movie cowboy William S. Hart. I remember my dad mentioning him.
- Old western town right in the museum.
- And complete with bar. Note the rattlesnake skin on the wall. Our local steakhouse also has one.

*The hotel, the DoubleTree San Antonio Airport, is not recommended. Check in at 4:00, HA! 5:15 finally. Although they did comp dinner, drinks, and breakfast. The breakfast was typical down-scale buffet.
