We went to Phoenix to watch a grandson’s baseball tournament. On our way from the lobby to the elevator at the Hampton Inn Goodyear we encountered the Bible Museum. Right in the hotel, open 24 hours. I can’t pass up a museum.
- This Torah fragment is from the 1500s, written on antelope skin and preserved in Poland, moved to Israel, then given to Bible Museum.
- There were some other old books, like this Encyclopedia Britannica from 1910. I owned a 1950s edition and a 1980 edition..
They also had a first printing of the KJV from 1611. It was hard to read. The language has evolved. Today’s KJV is not the 1611 version. It was heavily edited in 1794 and edited again circa 1900.
It was the 1950s version of the Encyclopedia that provided me the formula for gunpowder. Used it to make our own Fourth of July displays. And, if it had been me instead of Captain Kirk, I could have used it to defeat the Gorn.
