We traveled the Tioga Pass Road through Yosemite National Park. No bears. No deer. No animals of any kind (although I did see a bird). There was no sign of Sam either. We skipped Yosemite Valley. Nobody goes there anymore; it’s too crowded. So much for what we did not see; we saw smoke and lots of it… from three fires burning in the area. This part of the Sierra Nevada is the not-so-Great Smokies.

Staying in Mammoth Lakes tonight at the Travelodge. My recommendation: never stay here! It’s clean but very worn. Ate at Burgers Restaurant. Kay thought I might like it. I did. So did she.
