When in South Florida, visit the South Florida Museum (and manatee rescue). It’s in downtown Bradenton and features a planetarium, an aquarium, and an eclectic* collection of artifacts. The manatee keeper provided an excellent narrative about the manatees. For manatees in the wild, see the post Manatees.
- Manatee sculpture at the harbor.
- Rescued manatee in the aquarium. Manatee that can be rehabilitated are released where they were found.
- Prehistoric hunters hunt prehistoric buffalo.
- Stuffed.
- Dome clock. My parents had one something like this. They called it an anniversary clock because it only had to be wound once per year.
- As this closeup reveals, this clock is more than possibly German. And maybe the identifying label has been switched with the next clock.
*eclectic (ĭ-klĕkˈtĭk)
adj. Selecting or employing individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles
In the case of this museum it means “some rich person donated a lot of their random stuff”
