Admit it – you sang the post title, Aretha Franklin style. Or maybe that’s just my generation that does that.
We visited the Texas Sealife Center, a rescue facility in Corpus Christi. They rescue marine life, tortoises, and birds. They come from injured animals brought in and pets (that should not be pets) surrendered. They have some pet crates on the front porch so you can leave the injured animal when they’re not there. We took a tour with a knowledgeable guide who introduced us to the animals by name.
- Loggerhead turtle that has healed from its injuries and is due to be released this week.
- Injured barn owl that was raised by hand and cannot be released.
- Surrendered tortoises.
Down the street from the Sealiffe Center was the largest sandcastle we’ve ever seen. Turns out it’s a souvenir shop.
