Pioneer Park reminds me of Rawhide when it was located in north Scottsdale. There are independent businesses in the old buildings that have been relocated to Pioneer Park. The highlight of the park for our great granddaughter (and me too) was the train ride.
- View of one of the streets from the train.
- Seen from the train.
- Not our engine. This one broke down and was being repaired. It’s a narrow gauge (36 inches).
- The steamship Nenana. Floated into position from the river on a temporary canal.
- In need of repair.
- Nenana.
- The museum had a stage coach, of course, but also a lot of information on gold mining and the Alaska gold rush.
- The museum had some artifacts of interest to engineers, like this field phone for checking the lines.
And here comes the train…
