Our first full day in Saint Augustine featured stops in the History Museum at Gator Bob’s (a gift shop and starting point for the trolley), the Fountain of Youth, Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, and Castillo de San Marcos.
At the history museum:
- The second from the top is a light saber, but it is not the light saber you are looking for.
At the Fountain of Youth:
- Everyone is younger now, having drunk from the fountain. I think my hair is growing back!
- Peacocks and Peahens live here. Not captive, but fed.
- Demo of musket loading and firing.
- There was a wooden tower to climb. Having climbed it, I had to take a picture (of a bridge).
Canon loading and firing (I turned my hearing aids off):
At Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum (the very first one of them):
- The International Space Station made of matchsticks
- The Lunar Lander made from Erector Set pieces
- Especially for Kierstin: fake mermaid.
- The city gate – no longer the only entrance to the city. Which means the drawbridge is not raised at night any more. In the background is our trolley; our open trolley; our open to the unseasonably cold Florida weather trolley.
