Casey Jones was the famous train engineer that saved his train (and people) by braking hard to minimize a collision with a freight train in the wrong place. He died in the effort after telling his fireman to jump. It was April 30, 1900. The fireman survived and started the Ballad of Casey Jones. Wound up being preformed throughout vaudeville.
We toured Casey’s house and a museum in Jackson, Tennessee: Casey Jones Museum.
- Mural depicting the crash.
- Not Casey’s #382 although it was repaired. Unfortunately, it was jinxed and melted down for scrap.
- Across the parking lot, the Old Country Store with delicious old-timey candy.
- A fraction of the chargers available.
