Big things in a small town provided a place to walk around not far off the interstate. As their website proudly proclaims, Casey, Illinois hosts seven Guinness-certified “world’s largest” things:
- Wind chime
- Golf tee
- Knitting needles
- Wooden shoes
- Pitchfork
- Mailbox
- Rocking chair
They have nine additional large things that are not big enough to be certified as “largest.”
As fate would have it, our trip took us past the World’s Second Largest Rocking Chair. But my go-to app for offbeat attractions took us to an empty field. But somewhere in Cuba (Missouri) is the World’s Second Largest Rocking Chair.
- Directions. Or you can pick up a map in any downtown shop.
- Wind Chime.
- Golf Tee at the country club.
- Knitting Needles in “The Farmer’s Wife” shop. To obtain the record the needles had to be used.
- Wooden shoes in the candy shop.
- Pitch fork.
- Mail Box.
- Rocking chair. It’s even bigger than Edith Ann’s.
- Large pencil with mail box in the background.
- “Yard” stick.
- Bird cage with swing inside.
- Not on the list of large things, but the shape is vaguely familiar.
