The first thing I think about when I hear “Cadillac Ranch” is not “a public art installation and sculpture in Amarillo, Texas,” as Wikipedia puts it. By “art” they mean burying ten Cadillacs nose first in a Texas field. Over the years the cars have been stripped and spray painted.
This was another roadside attraction along The Mother Road (route 66) that caused my wife to look at me with the look that I know means “why do I keep following him?”
- Stop and buy your spray paint on the way in. Or stop at one of the food trucks.
- The paint is so thick that the underlying metal could be long gone and no one would know.
